In a major victory for the Stop the Eastern Terminal Substation (SETS) Action Group, Western Power has admitted that it has mis-managed the community consultation process with Eastern Terminal.
In a presentation to the Kalamunda Shire Planning Services Committee, Western Power’s Mark de Laeter, General Manager Customer Services said that the power utility had received more than 600 public submissions, the vast majority of which expressed concern about the proposed project.
Mr de Laeter said that, while the construction of Eastern Terminal in the Hacketts Gully area remained Western Power’s preferred option, the corporation would now undertake a review of other options and would initiate a more open community consultation process.
This is the second major win for SETS which had already achieved a twelve month postponement to the project.
There have been many people who have contributed to the success of SETS. However it is worth mentioning co-convenors John Davenport and Alan Lonsdale, Claire and Ron Botman, Judith Notall, Dianne Gherardi, Sonja Notall, Ralph Bradstreet and of course my better half, Toni Warden.
The latest win made the front cover of the Hills Gazette of 16 June, which can be viewed using the link below.
