I have great pleasure in announcing that Sarah Bishop has joined the Senate ticket for the Climate Change Coalition in Western Australia.
Sarah has rapidly established herself as one of Australia’s leading voices on climate change and youth. She will be an outstanding representative not only for Western Australia, but also for youth in general who will be the most impacted by climate change.
In 2006, Sarah made a personal commitment to raise the profile of climate change and embarked on a project titled One Giant Walk, where she walked from Brisbane to Sydney to raise awareness.
She spoke to a diverse range of groups along the way including schools, councils, mayors and local MPs, rotary groups, and other communities. She was invited to become the 2007 People’s Ambassador for Earth Hour an initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature, and an ambassador for Get Up’s Climate Action Now campaign.
In recognition of her commitment to raising the profile of climate change, Sarah was a finalist in the 2007 Queensland Young Achiever Awards, and has become a Leadership Ambassador for the Australian Youth Development Program.
